WAYO Africa prides itself on its Sustainable approach to tourism and travel within Tanzania and the Serengeti national park. I was delighted to design and project manage the revamp of their Green camp in the Serengeti. A 10 bedroom tented camp that moves with the migration, this is Wayo’s largest accommodation offering. The brief was that everything was to be sourced or made in Tanzania.

For this project we moved to Tanzania for 5 months to source, develop and oversee the production of all elements. I worked with local craftspeople (fundhi’s) who each had their own speciality - Weaving, woodworking, metal, beading or sewing.

I experimented with using local everyday items such as Brooms (faggio’s) but in a different way. These faggio’s were made into bedside tables for the bedrooms.

We also had the fantastic task of converting an old Land Rover into a double sided bar and breakfast station.
